How to Use The Automated Test Framework (ATF) in T24

The Application Test Framework (ATF) uses OFS to run bulk testing for T24 applications. It is designed for Release Validation Tests (RVTs) that cover high-value functional tests across the core banking system. It supports automated testing of key business processes and modules relevant to the release being validated. Test scripts are created using Apache Karate feature files, which can be tailored to various modules and functionalities. The framework is integrated into the release management process, enabling testing across environments such as DEV, SIT, UAT, PRE-PROD, and PROD.
The ATF would include tests for critical Temenos Transact modules such as:
Account Management (Loans, Deposits)
Payments processing
Interest and Charges calculations
User Interface workflows via Temenos Workbench or other supported interfaces
Integration points and APIs
How to Post OFS Using ATF
ATF uses Global ATF methods for posting the OFS request. Usually, multiple OFS strings are posted either via a test program or the Eclipse IDE. The response indicates which test cases passed and failed. We use OFS ENQUIRY requests when we read data from T24.
An OFS ENQUIRY request is shown below:
ENQUIRY.SELECT, T24SIGNONNAME/PASSWORD,ENQUIRY.NAME,SELECTION.CRITERIA
Ex: ENQUIRY.SELECT,,INPUTT/PASSWORD,%CURRENCY
The same OFS ENQUIRY request can be rewritten via ATF:
TESTCASE CURRENCY_CHECK
$USING ST.CurrencyConfig
ATF.setOfsSource("GCS") ;* GCS is default value anyway for ATF
ATF.setDescription("OFS, USD test")
ATF.mockData("FBNK.CURRENCY", "USD",ST.CurrencyConfig.Currency.EbCurNumericCcyCode, "456")
response = ATF.runOfs("ENQUIRY.SELECT,,INPUTT/123456,%CURRENCY")
CRT response
END
That’s one example of how we can use enquiry in the ATF. In a similar way, we can post transaction requests like creating the customer, updating the fields and so on. It is possible to write a number of scripts and test them all at once. The result will display which test scripts passed and which ones failed.
The file name should have an extension of ‘.tat’. It is a JBC file; this extension helps in identifying it as an ATF TESTCASE in all the tools. In our case, ‘CURRENCY_CHECK.tat’ will be the file name. To run this TESTCASE in the console, we might use tRun -test PATH.NAME/FILENAME. In order to run this in Eclipse, we can select the TAT file and run it as a ‘BASIC Unit Test’. We can select multiple TAT files and run them directly.
Output
The output should look like the following:
. . .ll Rate/DATE.TIME::Time Stamp,”USD” "456""2 "" " "1 " " 10.456" "
10.468" " 10.440" “08 SEP . . .
Advantages of ATF
Since ATF uses OFS, all application and Enquiry behavior can be quickly tested, which helps with the accuracy of the application. Most importantly, it is crucial to pass the correct data into the string. This will be more useful during upgrade migrations to test thousands of test cases in a short period of time. While other tools require users to log in to T24, navigate through the screens to post transactions, and then retrieve the results, ATF bypasses these steps by posting transactions directly. ATF contains the required login information, as well as the exact application and data needed to execute the transaction. However, to verify the browser behavior, we recommend first posting a few transactions and enquiries through the browser and then using ATF for bulk testing.
Enabling The Automated Test Framework (ATF)
The Automated Test Framework (ATF) is typically included as part of the Temenos Transact product suite or available through your Temenos distribution package. For T24 release R20 and above, you can download ATF and related testing tools via the Temenos distribution portal. If you do not have access to the distribution portal or are on an earlier version, you should contact your Temenos account manager or Temenos support team to obtain the ATF components. ATF is integrated and used within the Temenos Workbench environment for creating, managing, and running Release Validation Tests (RVTs).

The important part of using ATF is understanding how to design the OFS string. If you would like to learn more about ATF and OFS Strings, Our experts at Performetriks are happy to assist you.
